Three times Elon Musk has cautioned all of us who LISTENED about AI, and HE should know, Right? Elon Musk is best known as the billionaire co-founder and CEO of both Tesla Motors and SpaceX.  Those companies are transforming the transportation industry through long-range electric vehicles with semi-autonomous capabilities, and the space industry too.  SpaceX’s pioneered reusable rockets and has plans to colonize Mars. Most recently, with his new Boring Company, he’s proposed building a new transportation system that uses underground tunnels for faster car travel.  Musk also says that his SpaceX rockets could lift suborbital transports that could take passengers anywhere in the world in just one hour. Needless to say, he can not be labled a technophobe. But when it comes artificial intelligence, Musk has made clear warnings many times. His most recent warning came just last month when he suggested that AI could eventually start the next world war.   Speaking at the MIT Aeronautics and Astronautics department’s Centennial Symposium in 2014, Musk dropped this bombshell of a warning, “With artificial intelligence, we are summoning the demon. In all those stories where there’s the guy with the pentagram and the holy water, it’s like, yeah, he’s sure he can control the demon. Didn’t work out,” Musk told the group. Musk had warned of AI potentially being more dangerous than nuclear weapons just a few months prior on Twitter, and his comments at the symposium further publicized his beliefs. Musk urged for government regulation then and has since increased his calls for more AI technology oversight.  He isn’t content just shouting out warnings about AI’s potential problems. He’s also actively trying to create AI that’s good for the world and humanity. To that end, the prolific entrepreneur has helped fund an artificial intelligence research company, called Open-AI. He makes it clear that governments need a handle on AI and regulation NOW!
